I got a call Sunday from a man asking where our horses were. I explained we were at a show but he was welcome to go and look. He then said he was bringing one to stay with us for a couple of weeks and asking directions. He said he had picked up a leaflet. I thought he was a wierdo and put the phone down

Anyway he rang back. I found it hard to understand his accent and put him onto someone that could.
He was close to my house and the man was going to Ireland straight away. On the hoof i told friend to tell him to put it at my house in the stable - where we quarantine.
At first he said he was going on holiday for twio weeks and he wanted us to look after the pony.
When it was left he rang and said he had bought it from Appleby and would be back from Ireland in 6 weeks

I still have not found where it says i am a mug on the leaflet so i can take it off.

Anyway pony is here. Lovely little Shetland. Luckily in quarantine due to wide spread strangles in that area.
I am not happy, and we do not advertise we take horses in these situations, we do help in difficult situations but this is just strange.
Anyway, i am going to give him a bill. What should i charge? I don't even know the mans name let alone the ponies name.
He did give the pony water. Picked up the chicken eggs and left them so they did not break and left the pony/other animals safe with nothing missing. I am just confused over it all. I assumed my OH had arranged something but he knew nothing of it.
Its a spotted Palomino Shetland

Mmmm, tricky!! And quite weird!! Did he not leave a phone number or anything? I'd be charging full livery of £10 per day till it's picked up.

I do have a phone number. On phone it starts + 3 I don't know where it is for. I can't understand his accent, i am normally good with Irish accents. It always sounds far away and he cannot understand me.

I talk double dutch

He is a bit trusting. Alsorts of thoughts have gone through my head

I'm pretty sure +3 is Irish number from friends mobiles that have rung me.
I hope he does come and pick it up. I would make a list of expenses like feed, bedding etc and then your time. I get £7 per hour for doing YO horses, but generally charge about £12 if I'm doing it 'freelance'.

+353 is Southern Ireland...

Just rooted it out. It is 353. Do they have a different accent to Northern Ireland?
I wonder if he will come back. I hope i am in when he does.
I find it very strange. I wouldn't leave a pony with a complete stranger. I must have a huge neon sign that can be seen all over with mug written on it

I think if i said no i would have got home and found it.

I find the southern accent alot more difficult to understand, it seems a lot less harsh if that makes sense almost softer. But I like it alot

Thats a good idea to make a list.
Me being me i will charge nothing - stupid like that

I will just say " Pleased to meet you. What a lovely pony. She has been no trouble. Safe journey. Goodbye" That realy is me. No wonder i am taken for a mug

That use to me to a T (and still is to a extent) but my YO has toughened me up hugely! I do a far amount of house sitting/horse sitting to try to make the ends meet, I've got another one next week - which I know for a fact I won't see any more for!
