how much speedibeet to use??

i've just got some for my pony as he's gone off his food again. after trying all sorts, and recently, spearmint, he's now stopped eating that. its only since they've had haylage and he does love his hay, so i'm not concerned. but i do need him to eat so he gets his supplements.

how much dry speedibeet would i need to soak to make enough to thoroughly mix in a scoop of chaff? would a coffee mug full be enough or too much, baring in mind it will make 5 coffee mugs full when soaked??

I'd imagine a coffee mug would be fine. You are alot more accurate than me, I tend to just make up a small bucket full then use it over a few days! There was a thread on here a few days ago about things to add to feeds/tasty feeds that fussy or older horses liked to eat which would probably be helpfull for you. Sorry can't remember what it was called but I will have a look for you.

thx. i'll hve to experiment with amounts to see what he likes. trouble is, i've got a bag and a half of the chaff to use up and dont want to keep wasting it. i know he likes sugar beet as tried him on some a couple of times and he wolfed it down. he doesnt really need any kind of feed tbh, he's kept his weight all winter just on haylage and a handful of chaff when he chooses to eat it and he's the sort of pony who has enough energy for 3 ponies!. when i finish the chaff, i might just literally give him a small feed of sugar beet just so he gets his supplements. he has vitamins and i give him thrive as he gets a loose tummy from excitement or any change in grazing. since he's not been finishing his feeds and not getting his thrive, his droppings are loose again, so i know he needs to have it.

I'm intrigued by this Thrive Firehorse, could you tell me more about it? I have an older horse who is a bit of a poor doer and can get loose droppings so maybe he would benefit from it?

that should give u info. i tried pink powder before trying this and it didnt do a lot. since being on the thrive he's not had loose droppings like before. he would literally fart water!!!!! not nice when picking out hind feet.
