How much would I need to spend for a quality (not one of the small tb types that are at their limit at novice-a big striding horse that finds the fences easy) novice eventer, even better if had done some 1*'s clear. Dressage need not be 100% but excellent jumping a must, no need to move past 1*, would imagine this type would be 12-13ish,, and with 5-10 eventing points.
Thoughts on what budget I should set/have ?
Obviously to pass vetting, no vices, easy to handle etc.

Not neccesarily looking just at this precise moment-(hence not an advert for TFC :P) but getting an idea of the funds required in order to budget! But thank you for the offers.

Well I have one matching your exact specifications with £1,000 BSJA wins on top of that ;) PM me if interested! Only thing he isnt is big striding, he is a TB type but he finds novice v easy and his short coupled-ness makes him extremely agile :)

I had one of those that I sold last year (although he was only 15.2 but found the height of the fences no problem and could make the time without too much effort.) he'd jumped double clear at 1*. Sold him for 13k, had him advertised at a bit more though. Still miss him loads! :(

Why the downer on tb's? lets face it, the best 4* horses are still tb (imho!!)

WOAAAH! You should have moved down south- my friend (a mug at that though) bought an unproven evented unaff suposidly hunted in ireland useless horse for 12K!!

re: downer on tbs-there are good ones-there are not so good ones that dont soar beautifully over the fences imo, a big national hunt type might well fit in, but it is hard to describe-I dislike short horses that feel like novice is their limit-I like a big striding ISH type or a real quality warmblood. Personal preference!
