I am loaning out my 16.3hh Tb and 10hh Shetland both riding horses, and I am wondering how much people charge a month for part and full loan? For the Tb including everything I pay about 215 a month and for the Shetland about 120 a month. I am based in Oxfordshire. Thanks

My understanding is for full loan, the loanee would cover all costs. Part loan tends to vary.

This, a full loaner should take over all the care and costs involved with the horse and have full use, they may wish to move yards, something you need to think about, a part loaner will contribute towards your costs.
The tb seems fairly cheap to keep at that price that must barely cover livery, hay, bedding and feed let alone insurance, shoes or trimming, the Shetland however seems expensive and you may struggle to find anyone willing to pay that much for a childs pony in the winter unless they can take it home where they may be able to keep it for far less.

Full loan as everyone else has said - loaner takes all costs. Some people personally prefer to keep paying the insurance themselves (as the owner) so they know the horse is insured at all times, but that is your choice.

Part loan varies - I'd have a look on Preloved, Horsemart, Equine Adverts and local horsey facebook pages/groups to see what the going rate is for part loans/shares.

I've part loaned/shared a number of horses and typically have paid between £110 and £180 pcm depending on how often I get to ride the horse. This was for competition type horses (ISH and WB's), all on good livery yards with great facilities. The £180 pcm I had her 5 or 6 times per week (basically I could do as much or as little as I liked with her, and she was on full livery). The £110 pcm I had him 3 times per week and he was on DIY at a livery yard where I did chores on my days.

So for the TB, if you have a floodlit menage, opportunity for the rider to compete, no chores/minimal chores then you can charge between £100 and £200 per month depending on how often the rider can use the horse. Obviously the cheaper you are the more people that are likely to respond to an advert so keep that in mind. If you dont have any facilities like a menage then an adult rider will be limited to weekends during winter (if they have a full time job like most do), so max 2 days a week with no facilities I'd say £60-£80 per month max. If you want them to do chores as well you may be looking more likely to get around £50-£60 per month.

For the child's pony that is a trickier one, your market is a parent who cant afford to buy their child a pony so budget wont be huge, plus parent is going to have to drive to the yard with child on their days and that is time & money out of their day for this. So I'd say if the child can ride the pony 3-4 times per week on a yard with good facilities and a floodlit menage max £80 per month. Again if facilities are not great and there are chores to do then max £50.

Again full loan they would pay everything although I paid the insurance when I loaned mine out to make sure he was covered
Part loan I charge £25 a week For 3 days . Nothing extra to pay for feet or feed etc.
If I took on a new part loan I would up this to 30 a week as we are moving onto 5 day part livery.
