A fellow livery at the yard is interested in sharing Chico a few days a week while her horse is turned away and I'm working extra hours.

I was thinking 2 days a week but I havent got a clue what to charge.

Any ideas?

Depends where you are. I pay a precise percentage of livery to share a horse in Herts - where livery is very dear - works out £25 per day a ride him. Lot of pennies. Owner is quite canny when it comes to money, too!

It depends on what jobs she'll be doing too, it has to balance out. For no jobs, just riding, I think closer to £20 is quite common, but around £15 or even a little less if lots of jobs are involved.

The vast majority of shares advertised are for £20-£25 for 3 days with a couple of jobs.

I pay the equivalent of just over £16 a week for 2 days (occasional 3 days) including poo picking, tack cleaning and in winter it includes some extra jobs as he's in at night (turn out or bring in plus muck out). Hope that helps!
