I've finally given in to the endless winter and am buying some hard feed for the boys, Tb has dropped a bit of weight and even the ISH is looking like he's lost a bit now and his energy is none existing. They're currently just on an endless supply of haylage. Obviously I don't want to suddenly give them a stonking big feed and end up with them both colicky, I'm thinking little feeds twice a day? How much/often do you feed?

I would use a balancer with either Chaff or better still Alfa Oil. You can then add something like Baileys Endurance Mix, this will give energy without the fizz.

A lot of horses have lost weight through out this winter. Those that would not normally do so.

Try asking a nutritionist at some of the feed companies. I've found them very helpful, even if you have to sift through the info a bit to find the answer (as they can only advise you on their own products, obviously).
