Hi All,
Wondering if you can offer some advice, am looking for and have been for about 7 months a coulered irish cob (to match my other one!) I have found one but wonder about her price. She's a 15.2hh just 4 years old coloured cob mare tonnes of mane and tail but at the moment not much feathering (dont know if this will come?) bought from a sales in ireland as a yearling, so proper irish, chunky girl very well handled and good to do anything with. Proffesionally broken, riding on nicely although green seems balanced and fantastic in traffic infact when trying her a combine harvester came past and she didnt move a muscle!
She's a tri colour so bay, white and has a black mane and tail and equally marked.
I just think shes a tad over priced and wonder if i hold out longer will get something a bit more in price range.
So would love anyones opinion.
Thank you
xx

She had her feathers clipped aparently dad is a coloured irish sport horse show jump eventer and dam a proper traditional with tonnes of feathering.
She had her feathers clipped as current owner couldnt be doing with washing them!
Thank you for advice I am more in the 2k range she is alot more, so maybe need to get my head out the clouds and into the real world!

A coloured biggish cob mare who appears to be unflappable £2.5k easy bet they are asking more. Feather doesnt come but cobs are always in demand because of their temperment and nature.

Although the market is pants people will always buy a cob I think, they are low maintence except from fencing costs lol.

But in this market I wouldnt pay any more than that if she is only ridden. I sold a bomproof ride and drive HW cob gelding for only £500 more and I thought I had a good price considering. But I could be in a different part of the country and prices differ over the country.

IF she's as good in traffic as that, and a 4 yo, I would say priceless is the answer. When I was looking, this was the sort of horse I was looking for (plus countless others), and personally I'd be prepared to pay anything up to £4000 for a horse like this, more wouldn't surprise me, particulalry as she's young and a mare.

Snap her up PDQ before someone else does!

I'm looking for a similar gelding and I've not found any under 3,500... except at one place where they were all doped... At the moment can't find one at any price...

Where was the sale in Ireland cos I can't find any of them...

She was from the Ballinasloe (dont know if spelt correctly!) northern ireland.
She looks like she will jump for fun.
Maybe I will be making an offer tomorrow, I know the seller has had a few other calls about her, so will try to snap her up!

If she ws from a dealer or some one similar I would be tempted to ring and say your price and you will pay in cash if shes really what you like. The worse they are gonna say is no

*runs and hides as now gonna get slated*

Having bought and sold on quite a few cobs from the Irish fairs, I'd have wanted a good £4,000 for this sort of mare. If she's well put together, with a good temperament and attitude, snap her up!

Ballinasloe is one of the larger fairs, and well worth going to if you ever get the chance!

This type of horse is one of the few types that is still selling and still holding their price.
I'd expect to pay anywhere between 2.5-3.5k for such a horse taking into account age etc.

I just bought one just like her, a 4 year old traditional coloured cob gelding from Ireland, a temprement as good, my 8 year old daughter rides him and wants to steal him lol.
They are the best kind, and mine didn't come cheap x x x

Thanks for all the replies realised that they were sort after but not that they were holding there value, have offered 4k for her its quite a drop for her seller so will see!
