One of my section A ponies has gone over to friends yard for her 14 year old daughter to ride this week, needed work as backed needs bringing on, I have paid livery and sent him with his own food and haylage, so friends daughter rode, mucked out etc.

So question is how much to pay her per day?, want to pay her right amount, but as I never done this before not sure how much is right, big thanks for anyone who answers, and I have a large glass of Rose I might just share ;)

I have no idea but assuming she is a competant rider if shes bringing him on so I would probably pay £5 a day jobs (which is cheap I know but she must have been on half term?) then possibly between £10 and £15 a ride :)

I think £70 is fair, you are still paying livery on top, this would be in total about the cost of a schooling livery in a professional yard, possibly a bit more.

We have horses come into the yard and they pay £140 a week for full livery. £70 goes to YO and £70 to the rider and thats for a 4* eventer so £50 is more than enough

£70 per week?! - that's a huge amount for a 14 yr old IMO

My daughter is 14 and she rides a Section A 3 times a week for 20-30 mins each time - schooling & jumping only, no hacking, no other jobs - just groom, tack up and ride, untack, groom and turnout. She gets £10 for this. ie £10 for 3 times ridden, not £10 for each ride.

I disagree.

In most parts of the country schooling livery is about £150 per week, versus £30 ish for DIY livery.

If this was on a professional schooling yard therefore it would be about £120 for the day to day care and the schooling for the week.

Yes the girl is only 14, but she is presumably competent or she wouldn't be bringing on a newly backed pony. So I'd say that is well worth £70.

When I was in my teens and riding for other people I was charging £8 to ride. So I would say based on her riding your pony 6 times and 1 day off £50 would be fine, but then if she is looking after the pony as well then £70, as you suggested, would be very fair also.
