How much to purchase? Or is a loan/loan to purchase possible?

Hello :)

I used to be a member of HHO a while ago. I used to own a beautiful horse (once in a lifetime) that I was forced to sell. I was completely gutted about this. Although I have been keeping myself busy with travels, I just having this growing feeling of emptiness without owning a horse :( It is amazing how you take these animals for granted when you own them but afterwards, your life doesn't fill fulfilled without them.

Although my musings are too soon (realistically I will not be in a position to purchase until October-December time), I was hoping that I maybe able to get a ball park figure of what I should be saving up to purchase my new horse. I am quite open to what I am looking for..

4-6yo
Not fussed on sex but I am partial to mares
Preferably warmblood but will look at other breeds that have a nice jump (not pure TB's though)
15.3hh-16.2hh (will consider bigger, my last horse was about 17.1hh but I am a petite/vertically challenged rider so would prefer slightly smaller)
Basic dressage schooling
Basic jumping schooling but with potential to go out and start BSJA
Would also like the horse to have potential to be able to jump 1.20-1.30m courses
I do not mind horses with quirks. I prefer a horse to be stronger towards a fence rather than having to push them. I am ok with bucks but would prefer (unless excitable at a competition) that they were not rearers. Bad with hacking does not bother me.

Otherwise I would be open to a older horse that is jumping foxhunters+ and is capable of doing so for at least another 2 to 3 years. Whether they are currently in work or not wouldn't bother me (as I would have the winter to concentrate on their fitness). Dont mind a horse with lumps and bumps (its hard to find an older show jumper without any wear & tear) but would still need to be vetted.

Realistically, what sort of budget should I be looking at around winter time to purchase this kind of horse? Do many buyers allow loan with view to purchase anymore? On top of that, I will need to save up for a month's worth of full livery + about £1-1.5k for tack (unless horse comes with a full wardrobe which I cannot rely on). I have seen some breeders like Capitol Stud that seems to have some nice young horses at reasonable prices at around £4k.

Another thought is that perhaps somebody will have an experienced A grade show jumper that is not up to the job anymore but it happy to drop down to 1.20m courses that I could loan? Do these type of horses become available often? Obviously I would be prepared to sign contracts and potentially pay a loan fee each month.

Thanks for getting this far!
