Id like to find out roughly how much weight you think my mare could carry for a rider.
Shes a welsh d, 14.1hh ..

So what would you say is the top weight of rider she could carry for a light walk/trot?
Ta in advance :)

Is the rider experienced and knows how to walk, trot etc and is balanced or are they more novice and still learning their seat and balance when riding?

She looks to have a good amount of bone and doesn't appear to be overweight herself. For light work and a balanced rider I would not be too worried with her carrying around 15 stone (assuming she is about 480kg in weight). Obviously if she is showing signs that this is uncomfortable for her then you would have to reconsider the amount she is carrying.

If the person is unbalanced then I would not let her carry much more than 12 stone until they are more capable

I wouldn't want more than a maximum of around 14 stone on her, so minus saddle etc, about a 13 stone rider. And they would have to be a good, balanced rider, not riding her more than occasionally, walk and trot only. I am very careful with weight limits though, would rather be under by a stone than over by a pound!

I wouldn't put more than 12st on her. She isn't exactly a chunky girl, and she looks like she is quite long in the back (might be the photo) which would make me even less inclined to put even an ounce over that on her back.

I agree with TeamBarney - a 12 stone (inc. clothing) rider will be enough, when you add in the saddle you will be up to 13 stone.

It's difficult from the picture to see how she is built i.e. short or long back, broad or narrow from the front - it all makes a difference.

I've ridden my friend's 14.1 Welsh Section D (schooling for her and taking him into dressage) and I'm 5'9" and was at the time 13 1/2 stone. He carried me fine and was wearing a side saddle too BUT I'm an experienced rider and Jacob seems to be a LOT heavier built than your girl. He's quite short coupled as well. Built like a tank he is!! :D

Not the best pic but you can the thickness of his bone and how short backed he is so you can compare to your girl:
