how much weight do you think this horse could carry ??? he is 4 yo (5 in april) he is turned away right now but wont be ridden until he is worked a good amount, probably 3-5 days and upto 30 minutes.all he eats just now is grass but when he starts doind a bit of work he will have 1 handful of chaff and 3 handfuls of pony nuts.he is around 14.3/15hh when ridden it will only be flatwork and small jumps depending on how he takes to jumping.and do you think it would be ok to ride him bareback but i would be using 2 thick saddle cloths to sit on his back ?

OMG! The poor pony. Not only is she far too heavy, she has him way overbent.

OP you should be fine. I think he could carry up to around ten stone.

I think you should be wearing a hat, particularly on a bareback horse tied up next to a roof at your eye level.

But I also think he must be breathing a sigh of relief when you walk in with a bridle, compared to his previous rider! :D  what goes through these people's heads?
