i measured my 3 year old section d today and he is 14.1hh. how much more do you think he'll grow?

Depends, how tall are his dam and sire? Whats his blood lines like?! Did he get a good start in life, access to all the right feed etc. You probably get another inch or two but your more likely to see him filling out now.

Having said that...my D was rising 3 when I bought him and stood about 14.1, at 6 he's now a good 15 to 15.1.

So you never know!

dam is 14.1 ish sire 14.3hh. wasn't really fed until the last 6 months and now he is starting to look the a hippo

Hiya...can they really grow that much more from age of 3...learnt something new!

Think Buddy is about 15hh now hes 3, dont what height he will make then i thought that would be about it now.

D's are particularly late to mature, physically and mentally! My D had a bad start too, don't think he'd even seen feed until I got him...or a farrier! Personally I didn't expect he's make the height he has but if Sophie221 has a similar experience you may well have a big cob on your hands!

Do you know what bloodlines he has, that can play a big part too...although my boys parents are about the same as yours, he's Throneyside bred which is renouned for being BIG

PS have you got a pic, I'd love to see

I can vouch for the bit about it not mattering about the parents' sizes...my shettie is 42'' and her parents where both 38''

what a stunning colour...I like very much! Wana swap!!

oooo...good bloodlines! I LOVE Llanarth Flying Comet! Does he have a firey temperament? I ask only because every Llanarth bred pony I've met have been a cracker but a bit of a hot head!

Judging by the picture I wouldn't be too surprised if he makes 14.3/15 hh

he can be firey. but i always think the worst of him as sophie221 will tell you. the first pic is his 3rd show and i decide to take him to royal cornwall and he was like a dope on a rope.

My OH is not in to horses, but he wants to buy him if 28-jen-28 ever does sell him lol! Which I know will be never!
Last winter we horse sat while she was away, he wont rug Bear up but he rugged Jenson up without a headcollar or anything!!!

He is a cracking horse!

Gosh he has filled out! I really do think he's a lovely looking cob!

They tend to go all leggy in the 4th year and then finally begin to fill out into their proper frame around 5/6.
