Sooo, I know it's almost impossible to guess BUT I'm about to start a planning application for an outdoor. I was having a right old (first world) moan about the potential cost of drainage and the cost of maintaining a surface that is likely to literally blow away over time. A friend suggested it could be possible to build a very basic indoor, Dutch barn type structure for not much more than an outdoor but maintenance and drainage wouldn't be such an ongoing problem. Not something I'd even considered because I expect the cost of building the structure would be crazy. It's completely hypothetical but thought I'd ask the wise people of HHO for opinions.

Off the top of my head when I loosely priced it up 2.5yrs ago £90k for 60×40m shed (including delivery & install), groundwork and surface.

That didn't include wiring/running electricity. My dad was an electrician so I expect all that for free ha ha

15 years ago it cost friends of mine £25k to put up a standard 15x30m steel frame, concrete block and cement board barn with complete walls. They put a plastic granule surface directly onto the earth surface (that cost extra) . There was some earthwork required to flatten the area.

You can *sometimes* source second hand sheds, or get a price for a pole barn which you could clad yourself over time.

I had something like that years ago, we infilled the sides with sleepers and gale break, and we got a second hand surface from someone who was upgrading. Cost iro 30k at the time (1990 ish)
