How much would you charge for...

keeping a friend of a friends pony which needs to be on box rest for 8 weeks They haven't got a stable so my lovely mum has offered them a stable for the 8 weeks (pony is not used to being in stable). They said they will come over once a day to look after the pony but then that means we will have to give it hay and water etc in the morning. They will prob use our hay shavings etc. What do you think is a reasonable amount to charge per week?

since you're bound to be skipping/mucking it out too, if they're only coming once a day, i'd say £8-10 a day plus hay and shavings per bale as you use them. well, that's about what i'd charge for use of stable, water, lights, and my work and attention at least twice a day.
 
Depends how friendly you are with them & if it is an easy to do horse or one that is a bit of a pain. As they are using your hay & shavings etc I would say anything between 40-60 per week is reasonable depending on how much you like them!
 
With hay and shavings but not mucking it out,think about £40-£50 a week, depends on area and what is the going rate around you and how much you pay for shavings and hay and how much they use!
 
I think about £50 a week for a pony, but that would only include putting feed and hay in, I'd charge extra if they needed anything else done.
 
I would say £60 per week and shavings extra. but it does depend on how good a friend you are to them? You have to take into account your time and you do not want to end up feeling used or regretting the decision, which could damage your friendship.
 
Around £25 a week for the stable
Every morning to hay, water and skip out - £5 a shot?
Then bedding and feed on top.
So that's £60 plus feed and bedding on top??
 
Thanks everyone. I don't know them at all. We have 15 of our own on the yard at min so hopfully we won't have to do too much!! My sister and I work so our own are not being ridden and now another year older!! It's only a pony so hopefully not too much bother. We are in Devon really don't know the going rate as we have always been lucky enough to have our own yard! Thanks mum!! Wish we could find someone who would love to help us out in exchange of having horse at yard or someone who can't afford their own and just wants to be around horses. I'm living in dream world. Hopefully we will get them going and sell a few this summer (hate selling especially home-bred ones!) Sorry for moan i'll shut up now!!
 
A friend of mine took my horse in for schooling, she charged me "mates rates" at £50 per week which included stable, haylage, straw, feed and riding. I thought that was an absolute bargain!
 
Some poeple are happy to help in order get rides. I have done that a lot of my life, and competed that way too, as well paying some of the costs. It's just finding the right person I guess? Good luck.
