How much would you charge, not exactly a share?

Out of the blue I have found someone who may be suitable to ride Archie. It may be a couple of evenings during the week, perhaps a day at the weekend.

The person would really like to learn horse management. She has the riding skills but wants to prepare herself in the event she can find the time and money to get her own.

I am happy to show her the ropes and if she proves okay for her to treat Archie as her own on the days she wishes to ride.

How much would you charge though?

I hate asking for money or talking about it but have learnt that to get commitment from someone you need to charge someone rather than do it out of the goodness of your heart, when I have learnt you get rather messed about.

I was thinking along the lines of £15.00 per week for two or three rides and plenty of playtime and treat as own. Only thing I would want doing is poo picking on those days.

Sounds like a bargain to me. When I was looking to share it was roughly £10 per day plus chores.

£15 a week is very reasonable IMO!!!!! would just say try it for a few weeks then re-assess after to see if it is working for you!

We let someone have full use of our pony for £50 a month plus they were expected to help out, which they did. Never saw the money though, (sorry, we did ONCE!) when we told them to get lost they stole the ponys tack, i got some of it back but not all, they also stole our three yard cats and some money!
If you share your horse please get who owns what and what you expect from them in writing, save yourself the heartache weve had! Weve been sharing our horses for 30yrs with no problem at all, then this!
