My perfect horse is advertised, its everything as described and more. Price is £3750 ono, but i know she doesnt like travelling in a trailer, and failed a vetting on the flexion test about 2 years ago. How much would you offer instead?? No tack included. any thoughts?

Impossible to say if we dont know what she has done or what she is Im afraid

Sounds like a lovely horse, however bearing the failing the vetting thing, you may find the horse hard to sell on in the future if you needed to do so.

Can you elaborate on the flexion thing, was anything found that was the problem?

The trailer thing could be an issue for people wanting to use the horse to event and compete etc, and as that is what the horse is being sold as, I would say you could knock a bit off the price just on that.

the horses looks lovely, perfect teenagers alrounder.

To be honest a failed flextion test 2 years ago is irrlevant now. She might have had an injury that caused that that has since healed. You need a vetting done now to decide what she is worth, it may be that she passes a flexion test on that leg only to fail it on something else. 2 years is a long time in an accident prone horses life as many people on ths forum will tell you. Also the trailer loading may not be an issue if you have a lorry and time and patience to overcome that. i certainly wouldn't let that put me off if she was perfect in every other way

Also just a query - is she priced as she is to take in to account teh fact that she is not good on a trailer.

Thanks this is all helpful. I did consider that, as the flexion test doesnt actually bother me, but from the owners point of view i think it wouldnt pass again if vetted now. As for trailer, maybe should have stated that as "will not" travel inn trailer without panic and falling over.

If the horse failed the vetting and you are sure the horse will again then you need to get the horse vetted yourself and find out exactly what is wrong with it, as if you pay £3700 for a horse that will fail a vetting you may find it hard to resell if you need to.

also you need to take into account if there any problems, the dreaded vets bills!

I have also found that several horses that will not travel in a trailer without falling over can be cured by a decent trailer, good towing vehicle and some time and effort. If the horse is a bad loader and travels badly then you can probably sort that. If however it is a brilliant loader then travels like a monster, bucking kicking and generally scaring you witless then that is a different matter and for your own safety you have to back away. I know I had one that wrote off a trailer on a motorway. I bought a lorry - he wrote the lorry off.

Will she travel with company? Bobby is a Sh*t to load on his own but tootles straight on if another pony is already loaded so Pickle always tags along when Bobby goes out.

Loads fine with or without a companion, but soon as start moving just cant keep balance, panics etc. It wouldnt bother me so kind of hoping all this would work in my favour. As for vetting, i wouldnt have it vetted, foolish it may be but hey. Second part of the predicament is, Is it wrong to make someone an offer on the horse, if its already on trial with someone else? x

I take it then that the other people have agreed to buy it if they like it and they have it on trial. I would think that the correct thing to do is wait and see what the other people do first, you also stand a better chance of getting the horse for a good price, if they decide they dont want it. Try and find out how long they have it on trial for and leave them to it but I would not offer now as it will become very messy and also because you have reservations (that is why you are posting) what will be will be sometimes solves everything !

you could upset a few people on the yard and then it would be even worse if you then decided you didnt want the horse - slow down

yes! if it is on trial they have assumeably decided to nearly buy it..so not much point in making an offer.
failed flexion 2 yrs ago? irrelevant to current value I'd say.
The travelling would put me off, but as we don't know what she's done etc. nobody can say whether that price is fair or not
I'd say anything more than 500 less is a bit cheeky as obviously they have put her at a price they want to get.

They haven't agreed to buy it, hence why its on trail. The owner, i doubt very much, will have agreed a price beforehand as shes desperate to sell, so while its not at the yard, she isnt having to do it! Yeah failed on flexion test last time, and tbh i think itd fail again. Sorry for all questions, just you all know the feeling when you see the right one for you! xx
