I noticed a few weeks ago when brushing Beaus face that there was a depression directly next to his left eye, towards teh centre of his face. It is where the nose should run level, but there is a concave area. Now I prodded it and it is hard, and no reaction from him. But I don't remember it being there before, andneither does my sister, and we have scoured old photos and cant see what even looks like a hint of it - but to be honest it is hard to see as half is white, half is brown cos of his blaze.
It looks like maybe it has been cracked at some point. He did suffer from nosebleeds for a few days back in Jan 2006, but he came back as being fine and it was put down to barley spavins.
The girl who had him on loan didnt report anything back to me either.

I know it seems neglectfull that I haven't noticed, but you focus on the white of his blaze ,and so its very easy to miss, I only noticed it as I was standing at an angle to him. I just cannot believe that I have had him nearly 3 years (10 months he was away) and I have not noticed anything. Do you think I should just forget about it as he is in himself a lot happier and calmer since he came back.

Here in Feb 06 - no dent

And the dent - tiny I know, bu you can see how it would be missed, it is best visable from this angle

Personally, I woundn't worry about it unless he was sore around that area or if he was showing unusual behaviour which makes you suspect his eyesight or breathing.

I would then ask the vet to have a little look when next up for something else such as annual jabs etc. but in my case that is nearly every week at the moment !

Keep an eye on it and check for any changes in shape, size, sensitivity, etc. If there are any changes, I would get your vet to take a look.
