Hi just after some ideas i am looking for someone to part loan my horse a couple of days a week he is
16 hands irish sports X morgan and 4 yrs old North West area
AND NOT SURE HOW MUCH PEOPLE EXPECT TO PAY THESE DAYS TO PART LOAN A HORSE ?

Any ideas thanks guys

i was thinking £25 a wk or is that a bit steap

my ist horse i had on part loan was £25 a week but she was on full livery, my 2nd horse was £20 a week but that included a pony for kids, and my last horse was £14 a week part loan or £28 for full loan, i was going to part loan my horse this year was only going to ask £15 a week but nobody was interested. you can only try!

Maybe you could ask the to cover 1/2 specific costs ie shoeing rather than a weekly fee? Not something I've ever done but people might be more prepared to put their hand in their pocket if they know exactly where the money is going.

I think it depends what stable chores and how many days your wanting the loan for?
I used to pay £20 for 3 days a week doing all evening jobs for my part loan.

he is very experienced for his age he is well schooled and cant fault him out on the roads.
the yard has got really good facilitys and really good hacking i am flexable on the days they do, and will let them do what ever they want with him as long as they are suitable for him that is there is also quite a big show on every few weeks just down the road from the yard.

The normal way to work it out is to add up all your costs per day - so livery, hay, shoes, feed (probably not insurance or vet bills though) and multiply it by the number of days your sharer would ride.
So if it costs £70 per week, and someone loans him for 3 days - £30.

My friend had a horse on part loan until very recently. She paid £10 per day all in and it was on DIY so she had all the normal duties to perform; the days were fairly flexible including weekends.

This was in the NW so I don't think what you are asking is too expensive for the area especially if you have good facilities. The key to loaning is finding the right person for your horse and someone you like so you might have to be flexible but be sure to have a fair contract.
Good luck!

Good luck!

I pay £100 a month for unlimited riding Mon - Fri BUT Ellie is a 28 year old. My owner 's OH has a horse he shares out and charges about £10 per day.

I think your fee of £25 a week is quite resonable. Next step is the harder one of finding someone that both you and your horse take to

Good luck

I would just charge half of all of your own costs, livery, feeding, bedding etc. Plus ask them to pay for half of the additional stuff - shoes and rugs etc. If you're putting him on loan because you don't have the time then you shouldn't be looking to make a profit out of him, you should just share all costs. I would find the right person for you and your horse first and then negotiate the costs.

If the horse is the one in your signature, I'd say your price is too steep, unless he is on full or part livery and they wouldn't have to do any chores.

As a 4 year old he will still be being educated and so you're expecting somebody to put work into him. He's also green enough that he won't be ready to go straight out and compete.

If its DIY personally I think £15-20 at this time of year is a more reasonable suggestion.

ets - costs should only be split in half if the sharer is getting half a horse - ie. 3-4 days a week including one weekend day, and their say over what they want to do with the horse. The more control you want, the less money you can ask.

When you think how much riding lessons are these days - £25 is cheap to ride a horse twice a week. I used to charge £10 a day so maybe £20 a week plus half shoeing money?

I'm sorry but I think that's incredibly steep!

My horse is on part livery at a yard with an indoor school, 2 outdoor arenas, full set of show jumps but limited hacking & I was going to charge £25/week for my 10yr old german warmblood schoolmistress for upto 6 days riding a week.

I am in Scotland, though, and looking for an experienced rider as she has her share of novice abuse already! This thread makes me think I'm pricing too low?
