would a pure bred jack russell pup cost? And is a tricoloured more pricey than just 1 or two coloured?

just interested because we have decided to breed from my pure bred very friendly perfectly coloured (white body, brown markings on face...aparently that is how they "should" be coloured..!) jack russell, and wondering how much we will get for her pups if we breed her with another pure bred jack russell. obviously colours may vary though!

just wondering if we will make any profit on the pups if you add up all the vet bills etc.

any help will be much appriciated!

Not sure really. If it isn't a Parsons then it'll be cheaper, but they still seem to vary a lot in price! Just had a quick look through our local paper and they range in price from £95-£200. My (tiny) tricolour JRT cost me £100 a couple of years ago.

If your dog has champion bloodlines/champion status, the pups would cost more.

What are the main issues with Jacks? Do they suffer from luxating patellas, for example? If so, you need to get your adults checked over by the vet before breeding them.

I, too, have felt the wrath of a JR on my ankle while riding a bike! My dog (a Boston Terrier) loves them, though; the breeds seem similarly playful and share an insane love of tennis balls.

To be honest I think the rule of thumb is you won't make any profit on a litter

If you do you have been lucky.

I love JR but my husband hates them and won't let me have one

Ours were from working lines and bred by farmers, the first was £80.00 and the second (brother but different litter) was £50.00. Cheap babies!

Jack Russells are not recognised by the KC and so cannot be registered - therefore there cannot be any champions in the pedigree !

They are VERY prone to Patella Luxation ( slipping patella) and some have fairly severe temperament problems - there are no real recognised colours and prices can vary wildly with no real logic between the variation in prices.

we sell our hungarian vizslas for 800 and we have a very long waiting list form which my mother chooses sutible and best for each puppy. Our puppies are from v. good breeding lines and my mother is accrediated breeder and renowned in the show world. My firend who has pet russles sell for abot 10 pounds, if someone will give you more then take it but the home is ALWAYS better than the cash !
