I am shortly moving to a DIY yard where I'll be the only one there. I am wondering how much to pay for a friend for a muck out when I'm away.

How much are you paying per muck out? per day of stable kept horse care?

Do you mean how muchfor a muck out? not how muck to muck out:confused:

Anyway, I would think if it is just mucking out so only one visit a day with no turn out, feeding grooming etc I would say about a £5 a go.

Ours is £5 muck out (including hay, water, feeds made), £2 bring in or turn out including any rugs in winter and creams/masks in summer with feet picking out :)

Break it down into how far does your friend have to travel to get to the yard, how long does it take for her to get there & back. How long does it take to muck out the horse - sensible time.

Work out the total time and pay her a rate on time. Or Pay mileage and a set charge for mucking out.

I pay my neighbour £5 per Fuzzy per day when am away.
Her milage from her yard to mine is 800 yds walk (a long way! :D ) unless she climbs thru one of my fences & then its 50 yards.

This is winter or summer, so its easy money in the summer for twice daily pooh-pick & run hands over (and poss to put small Fuzzy in/out of diet patch), harder in the winter for mucking out/poss rug changes etc.
However, in the winter I leave nets made up for each Fuzzy for the entire time I'm not there, as have lots of nets!). Feeds are made up 24 hours ahead & all field tanks filled before I go.
She is brilliant & I know they are in good hands.

I dont ask her to groom - just to feed, check, pooh-pick - and when necessary if they are stabled, to do water buckets & put in hay too.
