How not to break in a horse, awful

Tbf, his reaction is just like my very well behaved and loved youngster on the lunge when she wants to have a tantrum.. I'm not sure it's that bad. Clearly not the smartest way to do it, but...

To be fair though the size of that whacking great trailer on a total novice horse is totally unacceptable. I think the method it totally incompetent.

The difference is that your youngster is being lunged hopefully in a safe manner and there is a low risk of injury. The size of that trailer and the incompetent handling in this video is just an accident waiting to happen! :(

It doesn't look like a frisky horse having a tantrum to me. It looks like a completely terrified animal who has no idea what's going on.

It looks like it's just been harnessed up to that huge cart without preparation and is in a blind panic.

Its absolutely terrified. Fight and flight engaged. I was so pleased they fell out and the bloody trailer broke. I hope its not in this country?

actually when breaking to harness it is better to use a heavier cart so if the horse does get a fright it will be more likely to stay on the floor ,a lighter cart can flip in the air etc
and also if the horse did bolt it wouldn't get as far with a heavier cart
although anyone with a bit of sense would of course spend time preparing the poor horse so that he wasn't so worried

they also haven't got blinkers on the horse making the situation worse :(

its a lovely horse though poor thing

Noted :) I am not even going to pretend to know anything about driving or breaking to harness....

I just know that that does not look like good horsemanship to me, it looks cruel at best :(

I agree that is a rediculous thing for a novice horse to pull, but tbh I have seen horses being broken to drive and some have reacted like that to the tyre on the groung, alot of the time its the traces and the funny feeling that makes them react so badly

Im APPALLED at the amount of clips on youtube of the dreadful treatment of horses/ponies/donkeys and indeed other animals that seem to be acceptable nowadays, does no one have any common sense in anything anymore, why is it acceptable to put these up for other numpties to see it makes me SICK and ashamed
