how often do you clip?

I gave my boy an all over clip 4 weeks ago, hogged him again yesterday and got loads of hair off his legs - the rest of him looks like he has a very dense coat but it is only a bit longer than a hairy summer coat. I'm thinking that I will have to clip him again in the next couple of weeks and just wondered what everybody else does?

once in october...and then again in Jan I think...unless they look particularly fuzzy or are doing a lot of hunting

Apparently the first clip is late october, and then every 4-6 weeks and last clip is January, I tend to follow that because Boomer gets sweaty when he's showjumping (looks like I'll be needing to get some more sedatives)

I answered it for the Welshy rather than the new girl as I'm clipping her for the first time today but no idea how often she'll need doing. Used to do Rhyn about once a month in winter and a couple of times over spring/summer usually too. Full clip in summer and for the first winter clip, then leave legs on (feathers come off though) in winter.

Flo gets clipped very 2-3 weeks from Septemer - May
Lottie gets clipped every 2 months from October - March
Bramble and Teazle will be clipped once they have been weaned from the foals

Inky gets clipped about 2-3 times a month from April to September. Minis are shown clipped so thats the reason. He is left to fluff in winter!!!

The bay pony in my signature is fully clipped every 3-4 weeks all year round. The others are clipped as and when they need it, usually once in october and then again in december.

usually 2 or three times a year but i have clipped three times this month! he is just growing alot of coat atm! lol

I do mine end sept/beginning Oct then end Oct then Dec. Once his coat is all through (Dec) it stays looking freshly clipped 'till the spring. One of the horses in our yard I clip is done once a month from Sept - April, her coat just does not stop growing and she is rugged to the eyeballs!

clip once about now end oct first week nov and then that's it - NO more - hate clipping and they are all triple rugged with hoods and they generally do less work in the winter anyway - if it's raining they (and me) are all wimps and stay indoors in the dry

done 2.5 hrs of clipping today - 2 big horses full clip and feel like I want to scratch my eyes - I hate clipping....I hate clipping.....I hate clipping....

I usually just do 1. Chex hair doesn't grow back for a few months, not sure why. I hate clipping though, so suits me fine!

I havent clipped ben yet but he will be done in the next week or 2 and then may be done end of jan depending on how fluffy he is.
