I was just wondering how often you compete, doing what and what type and age of horse?

Thanks

As I am away from uni and my horse stays at home, I only compete during my uni holidays. But when at home I compete every weekend rotating between unaffiliated SJ (90cm) and affiliated dressage (novice level).

She is an 11 year old who I have had since she was 4, but has navicular in both front feet so we only compete on a surface.

I compete most weekends! I have one 7yr old ish who is competing successfully at elementary level dressage and working medium level at home - i also showjump him a bit too!! I also have one 4 yr old ish who ive had since february and have been bringing him along quietly with the aim of doing a bit of dressage and showjumping with him too!! He will be going to his first show very soon!!!

Thanks.
I was just wondering if (during our busiest, we're having a few issues at the moment so hardly going out) I had been taking my 6 year old out too often (2 or 3 times a month)

But now I feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only person who tends to compete most weekends.

Jumping..

Well it started off when she got very nappy and rearing at home and refusing, had everything checked, couldn't find anything wrong with her so gave her a while off, then a week hacking before pc camp, she was fairly good so decided to take her to the trailblazer nationals after all. We failed miserably but found out the cause of her rearing and napping - despite all her adrenaline and bouncyness and excitableness she didn't have enough energy. Started feeding her more, and jumping lower.

Today just 2 foot 3 and 2 foot 6 (shes affiliated to the bsja so it should be childs play to her), 8 faults in the 2 foot 3 (she ignored me during a related distance and went through 1, then stopped at a double away from home but flew round the rest including another double away from home.) 2 foot 6 we had 2 nasty stops at the first 2 fences VERY unlike her so I think the reason she stopped in the 2 foot 6 was her nerves failing..Plan now is to just jump her at a titchy (open) show on the 30th along with my mare who can't jump very high due to an old accident, (both open classes) poles and 1 foot 6 to end the season on a good note cos she better jump that -laughs- a hunter trial and paraelli demo thing which we're gueani pigs for the next weekend (pretty hectic but im not riding at the demo so she'll be okay) and then nothing until November, a nice month's hunting, a week off then a little SJ competition..Also going to have some lessons with an international SJer who I know, and if Lacey still won't jump in December properly at a show, she can try her in January, and if she can't make her jump I'll buy her a cart -laughs- There's a bit more to it that that but didn't want to make it too long.

Thats a shame but hopefully you will get it sorted soon!! I have had the same problem with feeding my 7 yr old is now oated up to the eyeballs!! He is going very well on them. Good luck!!

I compete probably 3 times a month, BD at Novice/Elementary level on my 6yr old Dutch Warmblood. He just needs lots of arena practice at the moment, but once hes more confident out competing il back off a bit and focus more on my training.
