Hi,

How often do you have your horses back, teeth & saddle checked.

My mare is a 15hh section d 13year old mare. I try and get these checked yearly. She is a general alrounder, lessons, hacking and RC activities etc.

Thanks
Ruth

Teeth every six months as he had never been done before I got him and needed some work, saddle as often as he changes shape, back never. He gets regular massages, but not a back 'check' - if I thought he had a problem with his back I'd get the vet out (and assume it was a hock problem

Teeth every six months, saddle at least once a year and she has a massage at least once a month plus pysio & vet when required.

Teeth - Every six months as hadn't had anything done when I got her at 2/3

Back - Every six months as she was fully broken by 2 & half & it damaged her back meaning I had to turn her away for a year/18 months & then re-break her.

Saddle - If she dramatically changes shape or I notice it isn't sitting right or feels different then I'll get it checked.

6mnth for dentist, yearly for back, know myself how the saddles fitting and if shapes changed so tbh i wouldnt bother unless it needed re flocking

Teeth every 6mths, saddle and back... erm... never. Not really an option out here (no back people or saddle fitters), but I consider myself knowledgeable enough to judge if a saddle doesn't fit or if PF or A are sore / uncomfortable in their backs.

Teeth every year.
Saddle every six months to a year.
Back whenever needed.

Now Maiden is retired, she'll have her teeth done still but everything else goes out the window!

teeth 6 months to a year, back once a month unless he does anything stupid and i think he needs it checked again. saddle about once a year however back person can often tell if saddle needs cheeking by how his muscles are so sometimes get it checked more often!

Teeth - every 6 months
Saddle - I am my own saddle fitter so every time i ride!
Back - I check for sensitivity and pressure points every time I ride, but have a chiropractor every 6 - 12 months.

Both have their teeth done every six months, and physio every six weeks. The youngster has his saddle checked every six months; the old boy, being 99% retired, doesn't.

Teeth, once a year.

Back - Never unless a problem is suspected.
Saddle - Only when I suspect a problem, would be yearly if had flocked saddle.

Saddle checked a few days ago (it's new). Will be done again in three months time or if any problems due to it's newness.
She hasn't had her back checked since I bought her. Does a back person riding her in a lesson and commenting on how lovely and free her movement was count? LoL.
Still trying to get hold of the only dentist in the area. Teeth last done 9 months ago now and really want them looked at but they don't generally do dentists over here.

Never had Ellie's back checked. Teeth have been done twice in 7 years, and her saddle is checked as and when we think it necessary!

Teeth every 6 months. Back every 6 months, or more often if treatment has been carried out or needed. Saddle every 6 months, if not more often as I have it checked every time the saddler is on the yard.
