Those of you who travel your horse/pony, how often do you go to shows/to hire facilities/on outings/to events? Just wondering really :) Toto goes out a few times a month in summer, I think it's good to get him out and about to different places :)

I try to go out every weekend in summer if I can but I have 5 ponies and never take more than 2 at a time so generally each pony would not go out more than twice a month.

I can be out every weekend in the summer, I have 3 to play around with, so can do different things, shows, dressage fun rides etc, in winter we just do the odd dressage or hack.

Probably 2 or 3 shows a month from may to oct but we grind to a halt in the winter!

Ditto - I have a pony to do dressage / showing / HT with and a youngster I am bringing on so will start with in-hand shows / clear rounds this summer with him.

We also have a big annual show at our yard so I can take my trusty part retired TB in a class or two there.

Pretty much every weekend if i can... all year round, varying from team chasing, hunting and show jumping in the winter to show jumping and eventing in the summer... keeps him happy :)

Haha I too think that my pony appriciates going out, I think he get's bored of the school and field, I don't hack much too so he likes being ridden in different places :) I think it does him good too, he's such a spooky pants!

I have two to play with i usually take them both out twice per wk. During the winter they would have either two lessons or one lesson and a fun xc session / Hack away from home and in the summer a fun ride and a lesson. I fill my diary with clinics camp etc !! I just love it ! I have just ordered my school surface though so ill be cutting back on the hiring of arenas shortly. My one mare is 4 so its helped not having faclities to school at home to be honest. ( it didnt feel like that at the time mind !) Its made me go and get her out and experience working in diff arenas. I went to our first dressage comp last tues eve and she got 65 % She was so relaxed in the arena it was fantastic. So the inconvenience of having to work away from home is now paying off.
I have known so many people get stuck in a rut of just staying in the safety of an arena and its not good for you or the horse !! So in my opinion get out as much as possible !!

as i got a horsebox for my birthday every weekend, more than likely both days with my hunter at county show then rc show with him and my nieces lil 12 hh shp on the other day as im not allowed to leave him at the stables because no one is allowed is to turn him out, and hopefully off for lessons

i compete every other week, but they go out to lessons as well but as we compete BSJA and often quite far away the cost become to much to make it every week, and i think every week makes the horses sour when competing! once a fortnight keeps it fresh and fun
