..have your horses teeth done? Back checked? Saddle checked?

Spoke to my saddler today, he had a call from someone ranting at him about how the saddle he sold them didnt fit their horse. He asked how long ago he fit it.....three years ago!

So how often do you gets your checked? When your horse shows discomfort or on a regular basis?

Teeth - every year by very good EDT or more often if recommended, was every 6 months for a while.

Back - never although would if I thought there was a problem and the vet advised. He has had a few physios look at him in the past and they have all said he has absolutely NO issues - very unusual I know :)

Saddle - when necessary really; changes in shape/muscle or way of going. Have had current GP saddle for 10 years and bar routine reflocking it has remained a very good fit. I do try and prevent my horses weight fluctuating by much though and prefer to keep them in work year round.

Teeth once a year
Back never felt the need to but would do if required.
Saddle maybe every few years & even then just when someone else has them out. Daughters pony is rising 5, seen saddler once but will see him again soon when we find a 14 or 15" saddle in xw to fit her table back. Without spending a fortune there's not much available that size.

Teeth at least once a year, more if needed. Back as and when required, not at all if out of work and not showing discomfort, yearly if in work or more frequently if needed. Saddle-it's a treeless endurance/western so isn't 'fitted' as such, my western saddles I can't get fitted as such but I am very careful to shim/pad accordingly as I can't get a fitter.

Teeth - Every 6 months
Back - Every 6 months
Saddle - Every 6 months for one, but the other is checked every 3 months as he changes shape so much!

Back massage every month, chiro every six months and accupunture every two months. Hurt her back last year and still getting on to of it.

Saddle every 6months

Teeth every six months

Teeth - once a year
Back - every 6-9 months
Saddle - at the moment, second time in 3 months due to my youngsters change in shape. And don't think I've gone longer than 4 months. He's very sensitive and certainly let's me know if it's not 100%!

Saddle - at least every 6 months (more if needed)
Teeth - every 6 months
Back - every 2 months but that is because of ongoing issues; if all was fine I would probably have him checked every 12 - 16 weeks.

Teeth - once a year

Back and Saddle - as and when required. If he shows any sign of discomfort than his back and saddle are immediately checked. So far there's not been even a hint of a problem *touch wood*
