How old do YOU think he looks??

How old do you think my newest edition is? The previous owner says 3yrs old, my YO thinks 2yrs old, Me and the other liveries think hes about 18mths to 2yrs. His teeth say he's approx 2yrs, but the vet says 3 1/2yrs??!!??

About 18months I would say. Maybe a couple of months older.

He looks terribly immature. Usually the tail is a dead give away - but can't see it clearly enough in the photos.

His tail is about 2 inches below his hocks, still got ringlets (as i call them)

LOL!! In the first picture he looks about 2 and a half, but in the second picture he looks about 18 months old.

First pic I would say 18 months. Second pic looks more like a 2 year old.

I think its hard to tell as
a) no teeth pics
b) he is a cob, so could be naturally croup high and not go tmuch more to go.

Do they not say that final height is the distance from the elbow to ground doubled? If so I would say that could well be 3 - 3.5 years. My boy was 8 when I got him but he looked about 3 or 4! Its hard to tell with cobs I think as they mature much later!

from the pics i would say 18months to 2yo, would need to see his teeth. but teeth do only give a rough guide, and ponies who have been on very 'stalky' fibre (like poor hay and rubbish pasture) can have teeth show older than they are. my old instructor had an eventer who was 15 and his teeth said he was 20!

he's defo not 3 in any case!

Up to the age of 5 his teeth should be a real give-away as they have different teeth coming and going, the wear doesn't affect that.
I would guess at about 18 months.
What does his Passport say? He's young enough to have his DoB recorded on it.
