My 8 month old Lab x husky has a few admirers at the yard (probably because he doesn't tear the placeup like my house)
Anyway a lday at the yard has asked if her daughter (14) could try some agility work with him nothing major and just for fun but she has a really good way with dogs and he would love the stimulation.

We have both agreed he is to young at the moment and wouldn't be fair on his joints but what sort of age could I think about doing it at ?

What a bundle of fun!

The vets i work at recommend that between 12 and 18 months they can cope with activities such as hillwalking, agility, etc. But even then, tight turns and high impact situations you will need to be careful with (jumping over or from objects repeatedly.)

On the plus side the agility will definitely help with his obedience and behaviour.

Good luck!

Agreed, 12-18 months for large weighbearing breeds.
You can do prep by starting distance control, left, right, recall etc, going through the weaves/tunnel and crossing poles on the ground between wings.
Hope they have fun!
