How old was your horse when he first got arthritis?

Mine was 8 and i was wondering if this was rare or not so how old was yours?

Mine is also 8 and he has it in his off hind hock. The vet also thought he might have it in his front coffin joints at Christmas but all seems much better after liberal doses of newmarket joint supplement.

No eight is not unusual at all.

We had one at 12 had to be pts by the age of 14 she was extremly lame and in pain

I was told it was unusual he is 13 now and on but all the time Do yours often hold up the affected leg? He has also just got it in his hock on his other hind leg

4 in her coffin joints - now just turned 18 & it's pretty much everywhere but she's had a good innings, she's only just starting to feel / act her age.

Sometime before the age of 15 (when we bought him) and he is still going strong (and hardly ever stiff or lame) at 31!

at some point before 14? he is now 27 and well, see my other post as he was due to be PTS today but the vet changed my mind!

10 when it was diagnosed.

Not diagnosed but the Tb I ride is 12 and gets a bit stiff in winter. It's nothing bad though to say that he raced for six years

My mare was 8 when she developed arthritis in her hocks.

As an aside, I was 16 when I developed it in my shoulder and now aged 21 am very stiff and creaky!

Our HW cob was diagnosed at age 11. he is now 18 and in full time heavy work ,driving for up to 8 hours a day.
