When i met my OH 6 (6! really!) years ago he didn't ride, tho he had learnt as a kid in Holland, and he had convinced himself that horses were scary...
well. i never made a fuss about it, and never asked him to get involved in horses. but slowly he has started helping me out with them on a night, and would occasionally ask to ride one of mine if i was going to be doing ride and lead anyway.... then in October 2006 he whisked me off to Iceland for a long weekend to propose, and one of the activities he'd arranged was a morning riding... since january he has been learning to ride with a friend who has hunters and hirelings, and he had 2 short days hunting in march on horses he'd been riding at her house.
then, on saturday (after 2 weeks away with the TA doing some physical training instructors course) he announces that he is going hunting on one of the hirelings (that he hasn't ridden) and that our friend is going to a different hunt and did i mind... well of course not.
6 hours he had in the saddle! jumping ditches and all sorts with them... had a whale of a time and has booked himself another 9 days so far.... how proud am i!
ps. the honeymoon is horseback safari in botswana.... :grin:
