Just a query really, don't know if anyone can help.

Twiggy is registered on the Non Thoroughbred register with Weatherbys and has her passport but she has not been named with them, probably as it is so expensive! Inside it is marked that she is also registered with the now defunct BHD with No.??? but it does not give her name with them properly, it is just written in (Fair Value). I have checked and that name is taken with Weatherbys (it would also cost me £135 for a name PLUS nearly £40 to transfer her onto the broodmare register!

which I am forgetting all about, believe me!)

So the question is, now I've got around to it, are other societies taking any notice of BHD names and numbers, or because she hasn't been officially named on her Weatherbys' passport, will they ignore it and not verify her breeding - which would really pis** me off?!

I have asked SHB but they were a bit clueless and CHAPS are very hard to get hold of or don't answer emails, so wondered if anyone else had been in the same position.

Thanks in advance!

Am not quite sure what you aim is in registereing her name. As far as Weatherbys are concerned, you can leave her passport as it is with no name registered and compete and breed from her with no name on it. The only time you would need to register her name (and pay the huge fee) is if you want to register any foals she has with Weatherbys' Non-Thoroughbred register), as dams need to be named and registered as a broodmare first.

The reason I can say this is because I have been in the same situation. Had a vaccination card with BHD name and no on it. Because I wanted to register a foal with weatherbys, I had to firstly pay them the fees to register my mare. I'd only recommend registering any foals she has with Weatherbys non TB if you want to race them. Otherwise register foals with another society and save yourself the money!
