how short to plait up??

Did a mini try out yesterday and plaited up a couple of mane plaits, but I think his mane is to long (about 6-8 inches in length) (dirty minds leave now please !!!!) so I wondered what the correct lenght should be - he has a very thin mane and tail so always seem to have kept it a little longer (first show on Sunday-eeeek!)

How short should I go? and is it odd or even on the plaits?

did you roll them up? and how did they look if you did?

I always have mane about 3 inchs long on the one that are plaited - hate paliting if they are any longer.

I would go for about 5 inches max. I find it easier if the mane has a bit more length.
It should be an odd number up the neck, with the forelock making it an even number.

i would say 4 to 5 inch but if the mane is thin roll them up to check what they look like at different lenghts
