But really you just have too look at how comfortable the horse is with that and what type of mouthpiece it is. With loose ring, also put rubber bit guards on so it doesn't pinch. When riding and applying pressure or pulling back on the reins, the cheek pieces should not fold away from the horses face if you know what i mean
