How small do you think I could go?

I'm 5'8" and weigh about 10 stone. I ride everything from a Highland pony of 13.2 to a mutant warmblood of 18.0.

Depends what body type a horse has I think.
The weight isn't so much of an issue, natives could easily manage that.

I have 15h chunks here that could easily take your weight and length of leg.

Thinking of downsizing? :)

I keep looking at part loan and shares and writing off the smaller ones as being too tiny. I'd much prefer something like my mates 17.2 WB (how to make 17.2 look 12.2? Take away my stirrups!!)

Afternoon all!

Just musing over how small I could ride.

I'm 5'8 and rather leggy and about 12.5st.

Always tend to go for 16.2+

Thoughts?

I have a stunning little 15.3 RID mare who'd take up your legs easily - and wouldn't notice your weight (one of my male staff is 6'1" and the same weight as you and he doesn't look BIG on her. Sadly, I have a buyer mad keen on her who is over 14.5 stone and doesn't think she looks too big - trying to find a tactful way of saying 'forget it' wasn't easy!

I'm 5'8 and around 10st and am happiest on anything around 17hh...I have a 3 year old (well he will be in a few days time!) Welsh section d who I estimate at being around 15hh - I sat on him for a few seconds the other day for the very first time and I didn't feel gigantic, but photo my friend snapped makes me feel like I look huge :/

Last one was a 15.2 ISH mare who I felt ok on as she was a real firecracker and had a very nasty rearing habit so the ability to wrap my legs round her made me feel much more secure!!

One before that was a 16.3 tb who I was very comfortable on

But my favourites size wise have been friends horses who I rode for them - one a 17.1 tb and the other a 17.3 wb :D

So god knows whether my quirky sec d is gonna be ideal but I adore him in any case!
