Diesel was neutered in early March and everything is fine that is until today. A friends in season Lab. is staying for a week and Diesel is trying to mate with her. They were all fine on their walk but now we are back and sitting in the garden and he has started to show an unhealthy interest in her:rolleyes:

I separated them and rang my vet to ask for advice and she said they are fine after 6-8 weeks which is long past and she said if he did mate with her he would be firing blanks. I dont want him mating her for her sake as she might get an infection or even a phantom pregnency so it looks like its going to be a long week.

Anyone had any experience of this and if so what did you do.?

Yep we also say 6-8, I would still deter him though and would not let him mount/mate her. Just chase him away when he starts to get fruity or send him for some time in:D if you are outdoors.

Thanks for your replies, yes I am keeping them apart except when we are walking then he and Darcy do their thing running around the field. When Diesel is off the scene she is turning her attention to Darcy who just sits there looking bewildered. I also have my friends greyhound for a fortnight but she is an absolute star and would make a good stooge dog. If the Lab. tries it on with her she just gives her that look and she leaves well alone. As she was in season last Saturday and was well up for it;) Im hoping she will soon be finished.
