how stretchy/well fitting are soft shell breeches?

I'm looking for some warm winter breeches and as I am so impressed with my soft shell jacket, am considering narrowing the search to soft shell breeches.
However I would probably be ordering on-line so can't check out how stretchy or otherwise the fabric is in the breeches, all I know is the jacket fabric doesn't seem to have much stretch - am having difficulty imagining it as breeches tbh, so am dubious as to fit etc.

Has anyone tried (or even tried on!) a pair and what do you think please? TIA

I've got a couple of pairs and as I'm rather over weight ATM () I find them tight and unforgiving; with not enough stretch, personally. They are a lot less stretching than your average breeches and jods. Mind you, if you're a 'normal' size 'small' up to a small size 16, you'd probably be find as long as you purchased the correct size.

Don't worry Spyda, I don't think it's your weight causing this - I'm a size 8 and I still find them quite "tight" over my knees, with not enough "give" for proper schooling work, even though there is loads of extra material at the top!

I love them!!

I don't find them tight over the knees, I have that problem in regular breeches where the stitching regularly cuts into my skin.

I find the seams softer, and the waistband more comfortable with soft shell breeches. And yes, they're cosier than regular breeches :)
