How tall will he be???

I have bought a 2 (just!) year old horse, and he is standing just a tad over 15hh now, still looks and acts very babyish, was just wondering what sort of height i can expect him to react, he is irish cob x irish sports horse, but do not know the heights of his parents! any guesses?

Pessimistically 15.2hh he might make 15.3hh, depends if he is a large breed or a TB type as they tend to finish early.

There's an old wives tale that's supposed to be quite accurate where you measure a 2y/o from the ground to it's elbow and double that in what the horse's full adult height will be...

I don't know if this will help you in any way, but i got my Irish cob as a just 3yo and he measured 14.2hh that was two years ago, I have just measured him tonight and he has just hit 15.1 hh and is still a wee bit cropu high!
So yours i would think should easily make 15.2hh and possibly more

If you take a piece of string and measure from the point of his elbow to the point of the fetlock and then revers the string so it from the elbow to the withers, the difference in length is how much he has yet to grow. This is reasonably accurate on horses over 18 months old.

Supposedly the length of the cannon bone in inches converts to what they will be in hands, I have never really tried this one but many say it is true.

YO brought home a 3yo 15.2/15.3hh IDx a few years ago.

He is now 16.3hh at 7.
