How thick do you think this rug is?

I have an oldish Weatherbeeta rug that just has "medium" on the label and I can't work out whether it is more likely to be 100g or 200g. It was bought in around 2012, and doesn't feel hugely thick to me but keeps an elderly Arab fairly toasty in most weather conditions (she's wearing it tonight and it's quite chilly here). I thought the good folk of HHO might have an idea what is more likely!

Weatherbeeta can be confusing as they have a "Medium -lite" weight which is 100g. Not to be confused with the "lite plus" which is 50g. And Lite? 0g.
I never know what to use.

Yes that is what's throwing me, though this one just says "Medium" so I assume it probably is around 200g.

Hello, ex WB account manager here. Medium WB rugs are 220g.

All my wb have lasted so well, they are ancient models but still going strong.

The OP is in the same position trying to identify one that is 10 years old.
They’re fabulous, my favourite was when we got an email from someone with a 34yr old WB rug, that had kept a horse dry in a hurricane.
OP and I have exchanged some PMs, hopefully all sorted now.

There's some feedback for rug manufacturers. Please print the weight of the rug somewhere on it! On the labels would be great. I have a similar issue with 2 shires rugs that I have one is 50g, and one is 100g, and I can never remember which is which!

They used to do this on a lot of rugs, not sure why it stopped tbh.
I think Gallop colour code their turnout rugs, so depending on the binding colour depends on the weight of the rug.

It looks like WB now do this, or at least that's what it sounds like from the blurb on their website. Thanks to Starzaan I now know what I need so she'll be getting her brand spanking new WB rug shortly :)

I haven't scientific proof, but....the rug holds some air which gets warm so surely an older compressed rug will be less warm than when it was new? I say they lose their 'g's in the wash over the years.....
If you have a quilt on your bed and wash it over the years (probably much less frequently than we wash rugs), it isn't as warm

I use a marker on the labels of my liners so I know which is which blue/green/red - but now I have 50/100/200/300 so I need a 4th colour! Actually hardly ever use the 300 so I could not bother about that one. They do have the weight on the label but it fades in the wash over time

This is true. And is why lofty polyfill is always warmer than standard polyfill. More air trapped means more warmth.
