My dad is an antiques dealer, and while looking about at a sale room, he came across this...

Brown's Embrocation, for horses and cattle..
This celebrated embrocation is adapted for general use, and should be in the possession of all farmers and owners of stock.
For wounds and lacerations, it is invaluable; also for bruises, hard swellings, sprains, stakes, curbs, splints and any internal injury.

And then on the back of the bottle it said this...

For cuts, sprains, sore shoulders, sore backs and wounds... the wound should be washed out with warm water, and then the embrocation should be applied with a feather...
For sore throats and influenza... let the embrocation be well rubbed in down the throat and over the chest with the hand, night and morning...
For curbs, sprains, over-reaches, lameness, wind-galls, sprung sinews and chapped heels... forment with hot water, then rub the embrocation in with the hand once or twice a day for 5/6 days...

haha, wouldn't life be great if we could have one bottle that would sort out everything like that!!

I used to use whit horse embrocation, same thing as mentioned, can still get it now, but rarely use it. I guess you get bogged down with all this new stuff and forget the easy and accesibly cheap stuff.
Cold tea bags, embrocation, bran mash and rain water, never fresh.
I guess it is the sign of the times, nothing is so simple now.
best wishes
Dawn
