Oh my god, have a terrible feeling I have been shown incorrectly how to attach my gogue when riding. Was recommended using one for dressage by my instructor who showed me how to attach it. Attach to the girth, then the cord goes through the bit rings and reattachs to the ring by the girth. Have just read that is ok for lunging but for ridden work it should be attached to the reins once passed through the bit? In which case I would need different reins.
Was looking up the difference between this and a market harborough, what is the difference as if attachted correctly they look almost the same?

yeh a de gogue comes with a short set of reins with rings on them for the cords to clip to.

it goes on the girth, the cord goes up through the bit rings, the leather poll attachment clips onto the headpeice of the bridle, from there the ropes come back down level with the cheeks and instead of clipping back to the ring on the martingale strap (as you would when lunging), you clip the ends to the reins. Ive not seen it clipped to the saddle. i ride with 2 sets of reins.. i keep normal reins so i can pick up and use the de gogue when i want to.

ETA, on the lunge

for ridden work where the running reins/rope comes back down and clips onto the martingale strap, you clip them to the de gogue reins instead. does that make sense?
