Being a slightly larger lady, I'm wondering what's the best bra out there to stop the bounce and keep the "puppies" under control😉

Lucky you! Sorry I have zero advice but didn't want to read and run I am sure there are some great sports type bras about someone will be along to advise.

just wanted to tell you about my problem I have zero chest and very short hair and I do ridden showing I get very paranoid about looking like a man! I do wear padded bras and I do put quite a bit of make up on but have even thought about a fake bun hair piece thing to attach to my hat I am sure there would be a market for it just have to get designing it!

Freya do a good sports bra with an underwire and a racing back which stops straps slipping wellwhich I like and shockabsorber are good... I am v large chested so for competition I wear both on top of each other

The best thing for really stopping the bounce is a bra and then a swimming costume on top! Not good if you've got nerves and need the loo though!

My aerowear body protector is the best puppy constrainer ever!

For times I haven't wanted to wear a bp (ie dressage comp or showing), an underwired bra with an underwired (M & S) sports bra on top does the trick very well. I have never been able to achieve full containment with just one bra.

Thanks Ladies, some very good ideas. Will annoy the lady in M&S today to get measured properly and then start looking. Thanks and gave a lovely horse weekend x

It depends on your physical type. Do you do better with a compression type or an encapsulation type? Simply squishing them in is not always the best - or most comfortable - method of control. I'm a G and my daughter surpassed me by the time she was 16. (She is also a size 8 - I'm not..) I prefer compression because that is how it suits my frame and how I am set onto my chest (and possibly also age, post a child etc.) My daughter gets on far better with encapsualtion type bras which surround and support each side separately. Although underwires are often preferred for larger cup types they too don't suit everyone.

Obviously getting measured correctly is a good start point. Try Bravissimo who specilaise in higher cup sizes. They fit considering the whole upper torso - not just ratio measurements. So where on the frame everything attaches, droop etc. They also have a far better set of bras available in the DD+ ranges. We've not been able to get bras at M&S for years because the cup sizes are out of range.

This.

I love Bravissimo - they measure you properly. After an M&S measuring I went in thinking I was a 36D and came out of Bravissimo as a 32FF. And with jiggly bits that stay in the right place.

That's interesting, I've never got on with sports bras like the shock absorber that just shove everything together and struggled with either being uncomfortable in a sports bra or uncomfortable riding with a normal bra.
A few months ago I found a Berlei horse riding bra cheap online and tried it. Liked it so much I ended up getting another instantly while they were still at a cheap price. It's shaped like a normal underwired bras (I like underwires) but is more supportive. They go up to serious cup sizes too.

Another vote forBravissimo. You’ll get an entirely different measurement from them than from the measuring people in M&S. (36C from M&S, 32DD from bravissimo). The bra they put you in will feel oh-so-tight around your ribs to begin with, and probably higher up your ribcage than you’re used to, but the support comes from that part, not from the straps. (Your boobs shouldn’t be dangling off your shoulders by the bra straps, if that makes sense?!) And they’ll be able to advise on particular styles that will suit your overall shape & frame. All bras are not the same!!

I came out of bravissimo after my first trip in there looking like I’d had a boob job - perky, pert and all jiggly bits firmly in place. Highly recommend.

Another who would recommend avoiding the M&S option and get measured properly. I went to a local store who carry a good range and got a Panache sports bra.

I'd previously found Shock Absorber to be a bit tight and uncomfortable because they seem to aim to flatten to prevent movement. The Panache is so much better because it fits properly so is very comfortable.

I find a good wired racer back bra and non-wired sports bra combo works best. When I have forgotten the sports bra previously for xc, I have used an elasticated exercise bandage.

Bravissimo are great and have £5 off sports bras in January. Do not be tempted to scrimp as that discomfort you are feeling could cause long-term damage. I use a panache underwired sports bra that you can turn into a racer back. It has revolutionised my life - I can even go running. Shock Absorbers don't suit me but so many swear by them - you just need to try them and bounce around in the changing room.

I’m a 30FF and wear the panache underwire bras. I used to wear the shock absorber run bra but hated the way it just squashed my boobs together.
Left my sports bra at home the other day, tried to ride in a normal bra, I did about half a circle in trot and gave up :D

I’m another bravissimo girl, and would recommend speaking to them (they are great on the phone if you’re not near a shop.
If riding after work, I have to get changed at work, so I use a sportjock top on top of my usual underwired bra.
For shows I use the berlei riding bra - I really rate it and it gives a nice shape under show jacket.
The Freya underwired sport bra is also good.

I am hardly big or well boobed, but my Aerowear BP is a great support for the boobs!

I am a very recent convert to the Berlie sports bras. They are so comfortable and supportive that I've taken to wearing them full time and they come in brilliant colours.

Lessbounce were wonderful but closed down.
Would be interested to hear what boobydoo are like - anyone used them?

For me the Panache allowed too much movement - odd as my normal bra is Panache. Shcok absorber best so far, but can't say it's comfortable. Must take a look at the Berlei, does it come in small back sizes I wonder.
