so the neddies are off to stay at a local farm-type place for 4 weeks while the barns get sorted out and the muck heap gets spread on the fields and stuff.
that means no riding for 4 weeks and i doubt i can go to see them!

whats the longest you've been away from your horse/pony and how did it affect you or them?

Hm, while I was at Uni abroad for 3 years I could be away from my late mare for 3 months or more at one time - note that she was getting on in age and looked after by my sister while I was away - found she always recognised me again though and getting back on was just like meeting an old friend - you dont notice how long you have been apart if you know each other well.

There is nothing you can do to change the situation, so you need to think of a way to make the best of it.

Horses take a lot of time & effort, so is there anything you'd like to do instead while they're gone? All those jobs that you've always wanted to do if only you had the time, like clearing out cupboards, etc? Or something nice, like catching up on your reading or going swimming?

You need to make the most of your suddenly free time!! It will soon pass...
