How to de-stickify tack?

If that makes sense - old but (only fairly) well-cleaned bridle which has a sort of soft matt slightly sticky surface you can't get a glow on. Or you can but it's gone back to sludgy dull by the next morning!

Have tried Belvoir leather cleaner which doesn't really work.

Any inspiration?

I hose my bridle off in warm water thoroughly to get rid of the greasy sticky feeling and then thoroughly oil in flexalan when dry (usually do this once approx. every 10 days). The flexalan acts as a bit of a waterproofer in the interim so I can rinse my bridle often after riding and then can give it a wipe over with Horsemans one step or I use NAF Leather Basalm (but that does make it sticky). The result is super clean shiny tack even on a bridle that is over 15 years old (that did take a bit more oiling initially to cope with the hosing off :p).

i would thoroughly sponge with warm water and then use fingernails to get rid of anything on the surface of the leather. Then use NAF soft soap this always brings a shine to old tack at the yard and isn't sticky. Although mine seems to have gone walk a bout...

To me, that sticky tacky feel is when leather has become saturated over the years with conditioner. You can't get it back. Oiling it would (if my assumption is correct) only make it worse. In my experience it'd need to dry out over a long period of time or more likely go in the bin.
Though I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

I use a tiny drop of fairy liquid in a bowl of hand warm water to take the grease off my bridle. Let the leather dry & then use soap, I like Albion soap as smells lovely and the leather looks good without being tacky. Only need to do very ocassionally when the grease builds up. I wipe my tack after each ride with the Albion soap.
