How to deal with this hot spot

Nanook has his first hot spot. At the moment it's tiny and only mildly red with some hair loss. No pozing or other issues. The problem we have is its location. It's on his tummy just over an inch in front of his mans bits. How's best to deal with it. Any walk and he gets that area wet and being a malamute he's hairy! What's would you do?
 
Something nice and thick like sudocrem? Might be useless info as have little experience of hot spots but we use it on mudfever / as a barrier for it. Mums bitch had a hotspot in a similar area and it was too thick for her to lick off slyly and stopped any pee iritating it.
 
My samoyeds have had hot spots from time to time, and they can grow really quickly. I use colloidal silver to bathe it with, pat dry and puff on some athletes foot powder. This method works really well for my guys, but you need to do it frequently, twice a day to begin with, then once when it looks a lot better.
 
With hot spots the most important thing is keeping the area dry, and the 2 biggest problems are (hair) and (licking) so I would advise shave the area, this will stop the hair sticking to the hotspot and causing infection and prolonging it to dry and then if he is licking a t shirt over him may help in this situation, I literally just shave the area (on a surgical blade) so their is no hair in contact with the area and I clean with hibi scrub and dry completely with a towel afterwards. it will usually dry out in days.

He's had his bath and been dried as best we can with towel and hair drier on cool. Once he's sleepy we will give the area a trim. Thanks so much for the advice!
 
Echo athletes foot powder although I think any powder eg vet powder works well as a drying agent. Brig had loads recently, think it was something where we were walking him, none since we went elsewhere. Horrible things.
