Hi,

I’m fairly new to owning horses and have a lovely new 14.2 mare. She’s generally well behaved but she does have some difficulties (a bit of bucking and sometimes bolts)

I know before addressing these issues as bad behaviour I need to see if she’s in any pain. How do I go about this? She passed her vetting check so the vet didn’t spot anything. Who should I ask to check her over?

Congratulations on your new horse and well done for listening to her. Have you bought a new saddle for her, or did she come with her old tack? It wouldn't be unknown for a vendor to send a old saddle with a horse, rather than the saddle that actually fits and it is quite possible that even a regularly used saddle doesn't fit well. Sometimes a horse will not a gree with the saddle fitter about a new saddle. I would start with having the saddle fit checked, as she recently passed a vetting.

would second this, so many problems are down to saddle fit
