I've recently bought a lightweight trailer that will needs down plating to comply with my license and this 3.5t rule. I've emailed VOSA who say it needs modifications inspecting if I want to increase the MAM, or to fill out a form if I'm decreasing it to pay less tax, neither of which apply of course. I've emailed them back but in the mean time, has anyone done this?

The trailer is a cheval liberte so a bit tricky to get hold of the manufacturer, but if anyone has those details that would be helpful too.

thanks,

susie

VOSA have nothing at all to do with this issue because they only deal with the plating etc of trailers over 3.5 tonnes

the only way is to do it through the manufacturer who will pass it on to their nearest dealer to change the plate for little or no cost
