How to feed salt?

my lot are now living out 24/7 and only getting a small handfull of chaff to mix equivite into a day. i feel i shouldbe feeding salt too? when stabled they have access to a salt lick but can i just put some table salt into their feed instead?

If you have a salt lick then they'll have it as and when they want it. I wouldn't be adding any extra to their feed.

I add about 40g to my girls' feeds, plus they have licks. Our grazing has been analysed and is v low in sodium. Some people just have a load of table salt in a feed bucket & the horses help themselves. There's not really very much in a lick.

My equine nutritionist said to feed salt daily as they tend not to take as much of it as they need when given.ad lib access. Also says on balancer feed bag to feed a spoonfull of salt in feed. X

I chuck 3 tbsp of table salt in the feed. He seems happy with this.
