have a sweet 14.3 mare on loan. she is now 8 but was rescued as a 2 year old. she had been neglected and many of the herd she was with died apparantly she nearly died twice.the people we loan her from have taken really good care of her with prebiotics, probiotics and all the right things. her coat is bright she has good feet but i suspect somelong standing worm damage and digestive problem as her poo is often loose,although improved over winter when on hay and hi fi.my worry is getting weight on her despite teeth checked, wormed ad lib good hay and bucket of hi fi and vitamin supplement she has not put on any weight and looks ribby with no topline. she has energy and seems to be enjoying life with my mare. any advice on pink powder, conditioning mixes . she is my 13 year old daughters pony and we only hack her lightly to try and improve her muscle. gratefl for any advice as a lovley pony. sorry for the essay.
 
Build up is really good, the cubes are less heating than the mix so i would feed them. Also try adding oil to her feed, ordinary sunflower or corn oil is fine. If she isn't doing much work she's unlikely to put on much muscle though, but she sounds healthy with a shiney coat and energy, she doesn't sound like she's lacking anything so i wouldn't be too worried.
 
I would up the work personally, to build the muscle. I am a person who dislikes any feeds that perport to *do* stuff. I have transformed my mare on chaff, cool mix (this I pre mix to a ratio of 3:1) Ultimate Balancer (fantastic stuff, BBs on here put me on to it) and black sunflower seeds - she looks absolutely great now

have you tried baileys no 1 mix...? Its a mix which you add water too and add to a feed rather then sugarbeet....saviour from laminitus...
My friend who owns a skinny thoroughbred who looses weight over the winter uses it and mentioned how much better behaved her horse is on it compared to sugarbeet...
It is normally for older horses as it is easy to chew and for weight gain. More details are on the bailey horse feed website.
 
i gave my horse pink powder when she was on antibiotics, def noticed the difference in her poos!! would defo recommend it, and not really really expensive, maybe worth a try for a month see if u notice a difference
 
You can give upto a mug of soya oil aday. She should be getting at least 3 feeds a day and plenty of roughage as well as a good quantity of horse feed/sugarbeat and of coarse adlib hay or haylage
 
Have a pony who is similarily so hard to keep the weight, this year has been the only year he has looked great in ways of condition and he has (in ways of hard food):
Speedibeet, alpha-a, baileys no4, Linseed powder / oil (he didn't like linseed oil, so had to use powder) vegetable oil,

+ readigrass, and lots of haylage which has been the best really.
