Heya guys, pretty much as title- he is being fed on half a scoop of allen and page L mix, and is turned out 24/7 - its nearly been a year since his first attack, and am very vigilant about his grass intake- we have way too much grass! I don't particularly want to bring him in overnight to munch hay, as he isn't "poor" just right on a condition score, he just needs a little more shape. He is ridden 4 or five times a week, a mixture of schooling, hacking, lunging and one jumping session. He has some muscle wastage behind his shoulder but have hopefully rectified that with a new saddle fitted a little wide with a sheepskin pad so he can fill out. Any ideas on how to get him a little more shapely? :) x sorry no suitable pics :(

If he's about right I would prob leave him, put on more condition and you could get lammi. If he's living out 24/7 without a muzzle? Your v lucky and would keep him on the slimmer side off " just right"

Thanks guys, I think its literally the top line, hopefully the change in saddle and lots of stretchy/ hill work will help :) any particular excercises to help them really use their hind end and back? X

Lots of transitions, like 5 strides walk 5 strides trot, repeated over and over. Pole work. Don't expect him to hold an outline for too long to start with, he'll find it hard work. If he gets tired and tense he'll start using the wrong muscles, so let him do plenty of long and low work, but keep him going forward not tipping onto the forehand and dawdling. Shoulder-in is good too.
