How to get my mare to have a wee?

I ordered a urine pregnancy test on Thursday and it came today, but the last 7 days she hasn't had a wee when coming in from he field like she usually would in her routine. I think it will be a while before i catch her and may not have the bucket at the ready. Is there any ways that I can encourage her? I made sure she drank plenty of water when I brought her in and waited just over 2 hours .

I took mine out for a leisurely hack, then put her in a stable with a pile of hay and a big bucket of water. I then went and got a book and stood in the stable with her and a bucket close at hand, waited for a bit, whistling occasionally and she peed. I don't know if I whistled it out of her or what, but she just went - no positioning and she looked very surprised! I had to be quick with the bucket

Took about three hours in total. Patience is what you need with pregnant (or not) mares.

I used one of those once and just had to wait it out till she went! The expression on her face when I flew on there waving a bucket around was priceless 😂

I always find , if they are on a straw bed, shaking the straw under them makes them go . Worth a try .

I tried to test two mares at the weekend. First mare walked into fresh straw bed and peed. Job done. Second mare still hadn't after 3 hours on another fresh bed and I gave up then. May have another go at some point. They're just getting some practise in for making us wait for foaling.

I guarantee that as soon as I get in there with the bucket she will finish ! Since I've had her she would always have a pee in the field when we were walking up, since there were talks of a test she decided to stop 😂 Dhe can't have straw bedding because she eats it. I tried making water trickle into a bucket and whistling but no joy. I'll have to wait it out

I use a bottle. Cut a Coke bottle in half and put the top into the bottom half upside down, then selotape it. Then make a few holes and tie some string to it then tie it to the mares rug near her hooks making sure it doesn't tip or go too high when she "squats"

Then take her into another horses stable preferably one unmucked

The old way was to use a tiny piece of root ginger you pop in the vulva they pee I have seen done only once and it worked like magic .

We've taught our mare to we on command. So handy, but for the fact we've not had the need for a we sample since. Makes mucking out easier, as she usually wees anyway not long after being brought in.
